The challenge
AST Plastic Containers is a fast-growing enterprise with operations across the EU and UK, specialising in the production of plastic containers for companies manufacturing chemicals. They were looking to trial the traceability of their reusable containers and gather data on the movement of the packaging throughout the system.
What we did
- Trackers were added to the reusable 20L jerrican vessels.
- Vessels are filled with bulk product at the end client location.
- The vessels were scanned at key stages in the process.
- Data gathered to support the growth, scale and optimisation of the system.
The results
- Accurate calculation of Packaging Tax saved on a per unit basis (£0.16 per reuse).
- Robust measurement of environmental benefit, shareable with clients via dynamic webpage.
